Hello, I would like to share my journey to Austin East Magnet High School with you. I attended Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee, where I recieved a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology, with a Minor in Social Studies. While attending Trevecca University, I earned a Master's Degree in Administration in May of 1989. I will soon recieve a Educational Specialist Degree from Lincoln Memorial University in July of 2010.
From 1993 to 1998, I worked as an Assistant Principal at Austin East High School. In April of 2008, I returned to Austin East Magnet High School as Principal. It has been a wonderful experience being back in the building where I started my administrative career. Our staff and students are working extremely hard, while trying to get our school off the Achievement School District (ASD) List. Last year, we implemented Small Learning Communities (SLC) and had a great deal of success. We will continue to refine our SLC programs and develop Individual Learning Plans (ILP) for all of our students. ~ "EXPECT MORE, ACHIEVE MORE!" Hopefully, this year, we will be allowed to plan for the implementation of the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP), for the 2011-2012 school year. TAP will help us further develop our SLC's that we began working on last year. Through TAP, we will ensure that we are placing the most effective teachers in our classrooms and continue to provide professional development for our staff. | |
